What is this Prescription? Where do I get it? Will it make me better?
Can I get it at Walgreens or CVS pharmacy? Is it covered by my health insurance?
As a health & fitness professional, it is my belief that the body can detoxify itself naturally and you can maintain a healthy body weight and muscle mass WITHOUT supplements and juice or herbal detox programs, UNLESS there is a medical need for something to give your body a boost because of sickness. I have always maintained this stance and still do. WHY? Because we live in a VERY toxic world and sometimes you need an extra boost to help you get through the traffic jam or over the mountain or to navigate through the woods.. you feel me? I am not talking about drugs and alcohol to ease the pain or symptoms, I am talking about what we ALL need to do EVERY DAY to maintain a healthy self. We say it EVERY year as part of our resolutions and then most of us fall OFF the bandwagon... eat healthy and exercise daily. Basically, if you join a gym, you CAN get it there If you PARTICIPATE. What a great start! Treadmills, weights, classes, AND people with like mindedness that want to be healthy too- you are now surrounding yourself with magical goodness! Someone told me recently their health insurance program is covering some part of their fitness, so I would strongly advise anyone to call up your insurance carrier and ASK about any type of inclusions, additions, discounts they might now offer for 2016 when it comes to your own health and fitness. If we all start seeking and asking and demanding, then perhaps there will be a day when these things that we are told to do to get healthy and maintain a healthy state will be COVERED by INSURANCE rather than only having 1 option that involves SURGERY and/or DRUGS when illness strikes. MAYBE when we get sick there ARE other solutions that DO work that are HEALTHIER for the body and mind. MAYBE we do need to take a look at our life and start DETOXING all the things that have been put in our bodies, in our minds, in our foods, in our houses, in our clothes, in our communities, that ultimately SQUASH our soul and existence. WE have helped create this, WE need to help change this, WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER.
Just by watching my future Video/Written blogs perhaps this will SPARK an idea that YOU can start to do? To be honest, as I educate myself on all that is toxic, I want to quit. I want to turn my back to everything I started because it is SOOOO huge. It's scary. It sucks to know about all the things that are out there that are making us sick. Perhaps I am late to the game and everybody already knows these things? I dunno. I would have to say no we don't know because as I look around each day I see all the toxic things we have created. I have started to develop a safe haven at home and feel like I need to eat and stay at my house now just to feel better about myself. I am finding myself right smack dab in the MIDDLE of DETOXING my LIFE and it is SUPER CHALLENGING. I feel lucky that food and fitness were already a healthy staple in my life and just needed a few tweaks. I am getting AMPED up for 2016 so with ALL of YOU I will travel my own journey to "a healthy me". It feels weird to be the participant rather than the coach or motivator. I will start from the beginning which is DETOXING. We have to take out what is bad BEFORE we ADD what is good. I have spent the last 8 weeks detoxing my house, planning recipes that help me eat a RAW diet, researching supplements and detox programs, took my first yoga classes, learning to meditate, making peace with my past, balancing my Doshas and Chakras and investigating the Ayurvedic lifestyle. I have spent TIME reflecting on what was, what is, what can be, and letting go. I am also working on my awesome communication skills which I thought were stellar... turned out to be an average C work instead of the A+ I thought I was... :)
So join me in 2016 for OUR New Year Resolutions! Let's do it together! I will personally be starting a hard core 20 day detox the 1st week of January. I will report in each day and also tackle a health subject so we are all on the same page. I am learning SO much and am excited to share! Hope to see you in the New Year!
Where to start on my journey? Besides the obvious: Fitness, Food, Elimination of Toxic Product, Herbs/Supplements & Detoxing
(which I haven't even blogged about yet, yes I know it seems backwards but that's where I'm at) the final piece of the pie for ME is the Mind-Body which we will officially call " bio-behavioral ". Within this category falls my weaknesses SO that is WHY I am starting here on my Video blogs! Get what I call the crappy part done first, kinda like when you were a kid and would eat the overcooked veggies first because they tasted gross and then eat the rest of the meal that you REALLY liked! I also wanted to start HERE because time and time again when I train clients they can do as much exercising as they want and eat healthier to lose weight and get in shape, BUT to KEEP it off, besides the discipline of ROUTINE, you HAVE to address your emotions, the past, your habits, life stuff that is not so fun to drudge up! The idea is BALANCE right? Just like you want to EAT a balanced diet and you want to balance your FITNESS by including cardio, weights, core, flexibility, balance, etc., YOU need to get your mind right and balance your WHOLE LIFE. Guess what? I am a prime example of living the fast-paced american life of I want it right now and let's do it fast and efficient and keep running like a maniac through my day and don't take time to taste the coffee or smell the flowers or really talk to the cashier and sit in front of my computer until my eyeballs wanna fall out of my head then lay down to sleep- can't sleep- then do it all again day after day. YUCK! I think I just grossed myself out. ( excuse the extreme run-on sentence but it was to make a point).
SO! Here is my "TOP 10" tentative plan:
1- Take Yoga classes
2- Daily 20 min Meditations
3- Take Computer Breaks
4- Organize & Balance my daily TIME better
5- Take time to be with Friends & Family
6- Strike up Conversations with people
7- Research the Ayurvedic Lifestyle
8- Better wind down process BEFORE I go to Bed
9- GIVE my TIME and do weekly volunteer work
10- Really RECEIVE the gifts that all the People give me every single day!
Gosh! I have REALLY been sucking at this list! Holy Cow! In a nutshell this is really taking time to Breathe, include Relaxation, and the things that TRULY fill us up and create happiness. Why am I just seeing this now I ask myself... I knew it and ignored it is the blunt and honest answer. Yeah these are daily "healthy chores" to institute, BUT the real question is WILL I keep moving forward and DEAL with the emotions, do the work to create more meaningful relationships and connect with people, and take time to be Quiet and connect with MYSELF so I CAN make all these changes and CHANGE MY LIFE? Will I be ABLE to balance my DOSHAS within the Ayurvedic system and REALLY live life Completely and Happily for the rest of my Existence? Stay tuned to find out...... :)
